Julian Kirk Pierce

Julian Kirk Pierce, 58, of Springdale passed away peacefully at Washington Regional Medical Center on July 28, 2014. He was born in Wellington, Kan., on Oct. 23, 1955, to Julian Vernon Pierce and Wenonah Pearl Pierce. He is survived by his mother, Wenonah Meyer of Springdale; his sisters, LaVeta and husband, William Sergeant, of Springdale, Karen and husband, Stacy Smith, of Hazel Valley, Deanna Tannehill of Springdale, Donna and husband, David Reed, of Hazel Valley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Julian Vernon Pierce; his sister, Wenonah Willene Pierce; and several nephews. Buck or Bucky, as he was affectionately known by his family, had many endearing qualities that were enjoyed by his own family and by his "family" at the Richardson Center in Springdale where he had lived for over 20 years. Julian had indicated to his family that he wanted to be baptized so his sister, Karen Smith, made arrangements for him to be baptized by Jasper Hankins at Harris Baptist Church in Elkins. Julian enjoyed coming to his mother's home every other weekend, at holiday celebrations and other family get-togethers. Julian had cerebral palsy and could neither hear nor speak so his family finds great pleasure imagining his leaping like a deer, his deaf ears being unstopped and his mute tongue shouting for joy as recorded in Isaiah 35:5-6. Services to remember and honor Julian will be held at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at 10 a.m., with visitation at 9 a.m. prior to service. Interment will follow at the Brannon Mountain Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. Arrangements by Beard's Funeral Chapel of Fayetteville. Condolences at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
