James Billy "Bill" Smith, 73, of Huntsville, Ark., died Jan. 28, 2014, at Northwest Medical Center at Springdale. He was born Aug. 5, 1940, at Salinas, Calif., the son of Elmo Thomas and Evelyn Mae Barker Smith. He was a retired truck driver with 24 years of service, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a 32-degree Royal Arch Mason, a member of Huntsville Lodge #364, Free and Accepted Masons, American Legion Post #230 at Kingston, Ark., IOOF #16 at Kingston, Rebekah Lodge #80 at Kingston, Forum/Alabam Volunteer Fire Department and Living Water Baptist Church at Huntsville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Mae Merchant Smith, whom he married on June 7, 1991, and died on May 27, 2003. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Joe and Sharmi Smith of Huntsville, Ark., and Mitchell Dewayne and Christa Smith of Springdale, Ark.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jamie and Tommy Lewis of Tontitown, Ark., and Amber Lance of Springdale, Ark.; four brothers, Johnny Smith of Grove, Okla., Sammy Smith, Jerry Smith and David Smith, all of Kingston, Ark.; one sister, Ozell Martin of Kingston, Ark.; eight grandsons; seven granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; his best friend of nine and one-half years, Barbara Wynn of Farmington, Ark.; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, in the Brashears Funeral Home chapel, with the Reverends Gary Faulkner and Grandville Wynn officiating. Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery at Springdale, with Military Honors under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, at Huntsville. Pallbearers will be Galen Wynn, Gary Martin, Bob Usrey, Ricky Cline, Ervin Kimball and Erick Pilcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Boyd, Charles Gurley, Ron Trotter, Dean Martin, Phillip Morgan, Junior Wyatt and Donald Lee Myers.
