Drucilla Ann Head Morris, 90, passed away peacefully Jan. 11, 2014, at Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville. She was born June 23, 1923, in Johnson, Ark., to Springdale Pioneers Carl and Leila Head, (Daddy Carl and Mema). She is survived by one son, Gary and wife Carolyn (Ames) of Springdale; one granddaughter, Alicia Weyandt and husband Noah, and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Redding Wyandt. She is also survived by her twin sister, Marcella Sharum of Springdale. Up until Drucy's passing the two were the eldest identical female twins in Arkansas. Mother Drucy always said she was the older of the two (by 10 minutes). Drucilla will always be remembered as a vibrant, radiant lady with a delightful personality. Joy filled her heart and she shared it with the world. Drucy was a proud graduate of Springdale High School and the Fayetteville Business College. Sept. 20, 2013, she and "Marcy" were honored at the football season's first pep rally for the Bulldogs with Drucy leading the chant of "Woof Woof". Drucy danced and sang…."tapping' on stage at the Veteran's Hospital following World War II. At this time in her life she met war hero Kenneth at the Springdale U.S.O. and they would form a union of 41 years ending only with his death in 1987. Their marriage would produce son Gary in 1946 while the young couple built and managed the Morris Cafe, the area's first, on highway 71 South. Drucy would later become the office manager for the Springdale location of the Arkansas Western Gas Company for 38 years. She was very active in and for the community of Springdale. As a leader in the Springdale chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Association, one of her passions in life was the advancement and recognition of women in the work place. Mother Drucy's fondest memories were of family outings, vacations and good old get togethers. The three of them traveled west and were present at the grand opening of Disneyland in California. Later Gary would relocate with his wife Carolyn to Las Vegas with the Donald Reynolds Media Company and trips to Las Vegas became a regular treat for all. Drucy and Mema would team up for several adventures west, enjoying the shows and the nickel slots. Attending a private birthday party for Glen Campbell and meeting numerous entertainers were cherished events. Mother Drucy would send her love and best wishes to all of her many friends and would request any memorial bequests be made to the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in lieu of flowers. Sisco Funeral Chapel is handling services. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m. with the funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel with Dr. Rick Grace officiating.
