Wayne Meeks, of Fort Smith, was born March 15, 1948, in Camden, Ark. to Dorman and Beaulah Meeks and he passed away December 31, 2013, in Little Rock at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife Margi; his son Matt Meeks and wife Lauren of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Reid and Evie; one sister, Wanda Stead of Camden; one brother, Gary of Siloam Springs; and countless cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Wayne was a Golf Professional at Fianna Hills Country Club and Hardscrabble Country Club. He was involved in the First Tee program, The Nationwide Tour and also numerous other golf charity events for the community. He was a member of the PGA of America, Arkansas Chapter of the PGA, and the South Central PGA. Wayne was a four year golf letterman for the University of Arkansas, and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He was a lifetime member of the Lettermen's Club, was a member of the Arkansas Alumni Association, and remained an avid Razorback supporter his whole life. He attended Community Bible Church. Wayne's ultimate love was his family and friends. He never knew a stranger. Above all his grandchildren were what he cherished most. He will be loved and missed. The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Friday, January 3, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Community Bible Church in Fort Smith.
