Wilma Sue Viar

Wilma Sue Boyd Viar, 73 of Chesapeake, Va., formerly of Springdale, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014. She was born to the late Doyle and Elleta Boyd on Dec. 2, 1940, in Nashville, Ark. Sue graduated from Murfreesboro High School and received a bachelor's and master's degrees in elementary education from the University of Arkansas. She was married to the late Elvis Leroy Viar, and they resided in Springdale. Sue was a an elementary school teacher. She taught at Elmdale Elementary School and Jones Elementary School in Springdale. She retired after 40 years with the Springdale Schools System. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Sue worked at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale for many years before and after her retirement from the school system. She continues to make a difference by donating her body to the Virginia State Anatomical Program. Sue is survived by her son, Daniel Viar and wife, Abigail, of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, James Boyd and wife, Anne, of Frisco, Texas, and Charles Boyd and wife, Donna, of Valley Mills, Texas; one stepdaughter, Donna Gale Viar Bush and husband, Butler, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Sophia and Aidan; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date on the family ranch in Valley Mills, Texas. Memorials may be made to Jones Elementary Home Library Project, 900 S. Powell St., Springdale, AR 72764.
