On Feb. 13, 2014, heaven welcomed a phenomenal angel, Edgar Logsdon. Ed will be met at Heaven's gate by his loving wife of 59 years, Georgia, his parents, Charles and Gladys Parker, smothered with hugs and kisses by his daughters, Debbie Childers and Susan Yocum. Standing with a grin and holding two pool sticks will be his grandson Jason Adams, telling him he's been practicing. Ed helped Jason hone his pool skills and they enjoyed the battle of who was best. Ed was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Chanute, Kan. He worked many years and retired from the Chanute Tribune. Later he moved to Missouri to be closer to his daughters. He was a loving father, who never yelled. He would give you a one-liner that kept you thinking for days. You might enter his home as a stranger, but you would leave feeling part of the family. Quick-witted and always the practical joker, he enjoyed life and had many interests. Ed and Georgia loved to dance and were a pleasure to watch. He played in a pool league, bowled, enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was quite a show-off in shooting trap. Many family and friends sat around his table playing cards, games and dominoes. His motto was "show no mercy." If you won, you earned it. That is how Ed lived his life, fair, proud, welcoming, loving and always with a huge smile. Ed served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict. He would talk to you about his time served, but what he really showed pride in was talking about his grandson, Robert Adams, who is still serving. Ed loved God, his country, life and most of all his family. With tears in our eyes and sorrowful hearts, let us rejoice in Ed meeting the Lord, the beautiful life he led and the lives he touched. He won the final battle. He will remain in our hearts forever. Ed is survived by daughter, Tamie Adams and husband, Chris of Cave Springs; son-in-law, Steve Yocum and Beverly Conover of Cave Springs; grandchildren, Robert and Melissa Adams of Fayetteville, N.C., Michelle and Matthew Spear of Gravette, Stephanie Childers and Shaun Standridge of Bentonville, Joe Taylor and Rae West of Lonsdale, Ark., Samantha and Jeremy Lynch of Springdale, Gabe Childers of Bella Vista, Katie Bell and Jeff Butler of Santa Cruz, Calif., Morgan and Morgan Holly of Rogers; eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday the 19th of February, at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Elm Springs Cemetery. Please take a moment and visit www.rollinsfuneral.com and share your memories and messages for the family on Ed's memory page.
