Thomas Edward Woods

Thomas Edward Woods, 95, of Hindsville, Ark., died Feb. 2, 2014, at the Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville, Ark. He was born on Jan. 17, 1919, in Ellsworth, Kan., the only son of William E. and Beulah Bower Woods. He was the valedictorian of his high school class in Ellsworth, and then attended the University of Kansas where he received a law degree in 1944. He worked in the legal department for the State of Kansas and joined the Foulston Law Firm in Wichita, Kan., in 1945. He practiced law for 17 years in Wichita. In 1962, he retired to a farm near Hindsville, Ark., with his family. He is survived by his wife, Freda Rose Bornschein Woods; and three daughters and one son-in-law, Elaine Woods Hansen and Douglas Hansen of Seattle, Wash., Gail Woods Duncan of Memphis, Tenn., and Martha Woods of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by two grandsons and two granddaughters, Justin and Brandy Duncan, Seth Duncan and Carrie Billings, and Laura Duncan, all of Memphis, Tenn., and Eva and Ian Robinson of Seattle, Wash. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville, Ark., with The Rev. Les Elam of Hindsville First Baptist Church officiating. Private interment will be in the Buckeye Cemetery by Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville.
