Peggy Ann Fancher, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Mountain Home, Ark., on Dec. 17, 2014. Prior to moving to Mountain Home in the spring of 2014, she lived in Fayetteville, Ark., for 47 years. Peggy was born in Berryville, Ark., on July 15, 1931, to Oscar and Kathleen Newman. She was united in marriage to Frank A. Fancher on Feb. 28, 1954. Together they owned and operated the Otasco Store in Berryville until 1967 when they moved to Fayetteville. Frank began a successful career with Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. and Peggy worked as a bookkeeper for Utley and Company, and later for Goff-McNair Motor Co. Frank suffered a debilitating stroke in 1985, and Peggy assumed the role of his constant and loving caregiver for the next 19 years until his death in 2004. Throughout her life, she was a woman small in stature, but very big in courage, determination and devotion! She was a very loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. Peggy made many personal sacrifices in order to help her family and loved ones. She was especially strong-willed, independent and outspoken! Whether you agreed with her or not, you would never have to wonder about where she stood on an issue! Peggy was a Christian and passed along her love of the Lord to her family. She loved to listen to old tunes on the radio while working her daily crossword puzzles. In her earlier days, she enjoyed playing cards and was an active member in several bridge clubs. Her strong spirit and loving soul will be greatly missed by her family and friends! Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Brian. She is survived by a son, Tracy and wife, Tana, and their son, Kendall, of Mountain Home; and a daughter in-law, Diana Fancher, and her children, Brian Frank Fancher and Brianna Fancher, of Broken Arrow, Okla. Following cremation, a memorial graveside service will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fayetteville on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Jim Huffman officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fayetteville Boys & Girls Club, 560 N. Rupple Road, Fayetteville, AR 72704; or a charity of your choice. Condolences at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
