Joseph Patrick Ennis, Jr.

Joseph Patrick Ennis, Jr. was born to Vesta and Joseph on Sept. 29, 1943, in Shenandoah, Iowa. "Joey" captured the heart of his soul mate and partner, Marcie, in Atlantic, Iowa where they were backyard neighbors and eventually high school sweethearts. He graduated from Atlantic High School in 1961, and they were married in August that year. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where Joe attended Drake University, worked, and started their family. He graduated with a degree in Business in 1965 and the family, now including Lisa and Trey, moved to Iowa City where Joe pursued his career with Wohl Shoe Company. They eventually moved to St. Louis and he became executive vice president, retiring after 29 years of outstanding creative leadership. After careful research, Joe and Marcie chose Bella Vista for their retirement years. It was the perfect choice! They enjoyed 15 years of their favorite activities along with wonderful friends and fellowship. Joe courageously battled cancer, and in the end he won, for now he is no longer incapable of doing the things he loved … playing golf, hunting, fishing, and making people smile. He will save a tee time for you! Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mikey. He is survived by his wife, Marcie; his children, Lisa Williams (Curt) and Joseph Patrick Ennis III-Trey (Kim); sister, Pat Voss; grandchildren who fondly called him "Bumps", Nick and Zack Williams, and Chloe, Paige and Joseph Patrick Ennis IV-Ty. A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, Ark., with a visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. and followed by a rosary at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark., or St. Bernard Catholic Church.
