Peggy L. Bowles-Knepel

Peggy L. Bowles-Knepel was born Nov. 16, 1937, in Charleston, Ark., the daughter of Emmett and Vera (Boyd) Elkins. Peggy died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at South Crest Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. She was 76 years of age. The former Miss Peggy Elkins was a 1955 graduate of Rogers, Ark., High School where she played basketball and was Class Valedictorian. She attended the University of Arkansas on scholarship where she received her bachelor's degree in physical education, graduating with honors. Peggy taught physical education at Hillcrest Jr. High in Fayetteville, also serving as the cheerleading sponsor and taught in Rogers, Ark. She was married to Richard J. Bowles who preceded her in death; and later married Heinz Knepel who also preceded her in death. She enjoyed sewing, sports, traveling, reading and was very good at bookkeeping.

She is survived by son, Barry Bowles, Jenks, Okla.; grandchildren, Clint Bowles, Jacob and wife, Tiffany Bowles, Darby Bowles; one great-grandchild on the way; one sister; five brothers; one aunt; numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by two sisters; her parents; two husbands; and son,
 MD Brook Bowles.
