Clifford Horton

Clifford Lee Horton, 88, of Bella Vista died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville. He was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Mabel and Vernon Horton. Cliff and his wife, Mel, moved to Bella Vista in 2000 from Cary, Ill., where they resided for more than 40 years. He was a compassionate man and father to his children. Cliff was well rounded and had many stories to share. Cliff enjoyed art and nature. He was an avid photographer and would often work in watercolors to recreate his photos. Cliff was an enthusiast of design and architecture. He held many collections, including stamps and coins. Cliff loved history, specifically the World War I and II era. He was a Mason in the Illinois Masonic Lodge since 1947, was active in the Boy Scouts and a lifelong Cubs fan. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Cliff is survived by his wife of 64 years, Melva Horton; one son, Jeffery Horton of Corvallis, Ore.; one daughter, Jennifer Horton of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, John Horton of Lake Barrington, Ill.; and one granddaughter.
