George William Wolfe

George William Wolfe of Rogers, Ark., passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, at age 90. He was born in Evansville, Ind., on Jan. 30, 1924, the son of the late George F. Wolfe and Gizela C. Wolfe. George "Bill" Wolfe was an accomplished aerospace engineer who designed components for a wide range of military and civilian aircraft. A member of Grace United Methodist Church, he was also a Navy veteran and served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. In retirement, George's longtime interest in experimental aircraft led him to build and fly a lake based seaplane utilizing the "Controlwing" concept. Beloved husband of Lorraine Nowak Wolfe, he is also survived by two children, Marilyn Black of Cochranton, Pa., and David Wolfe of St. Louis, Mo. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Wolfe; sisters, Gizela Beall and Marie Dahlen; and one brother, Robert Wolfe. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Grace United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1801 S.
