Walter T. Swink, 90, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away March 3, 2013, in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Memphis, Tenn., to Walter Cecil Swink and Addie Lee Tate-Swink. Walter was a graduate from Central High School in Memphis, Tenn., and went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II; he was retired from real estate and the automobile industry, selling Packards, Studebakers, Fiats, Alfa Romeos and Mercedes-Benz. He was also an avid rock collector and loved the world of geology. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Colleen McNeel-Swink of Camas, Wash.; two sons, William Doyle Green of Houston, Texas, and Walter Brooks Swink of Fayetteville, Ark.; one daughter, Melissa L. Swink of Fayetteville, Ark.; one sister, Julia Brantley of Memphis, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Annabelle Leigh Swink of Fayetteville; and one granddog, Molly of Fayetteville. Graveside memorial services, with military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Fayetteville National Cemetery with Deacon Bud Baldwin officiating. A celebration of Walter's life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., following the memorial service, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1722 N. Starr Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72701. Memorials contributions may be made to the Animal League of Washington County.
