Henry 'Ed' Southern

Ed Southern, 92, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, in Fayetteville. He was born March 12, 1921, in Winslow, the son of Floyd and Ava Cowar Southern. He was a member of Buckner Baptist Church and served in the United States Army; retired from Ozark Electric; trail riding director and parade marshal for Rounders Riding Club; and president of Northwest Arkansas Fox Hound Association. Preceded in death by a son, Dewayne Southern; and his brother, Maurice Southern. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Southern of the home; three daughters, Glenda Houston and husband, Herschel, of West Fork, Sandy Marshall and Terri Treat, both of Fayetteville; three sisters, Pauline Estes, Dorothy Gooding and JoAnn Southern, all Fayetteville; three grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Beard's Funeral Chapel.
