Ace Lee Moreland

Mr. Ace Lee Moreland III, 67, of Miami, Okla., formerly of Southwest City, Mo., departed this life on Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo., after a recent decline in health. Ace entered this life on Sept. 10, 1945, in Picher, Okla., the only child born to the union of Ace Lee Moreland II and Lillian (Tanner) Moreland. His formative years were spent in Tucson, Ariz. He was a 1963 graduate of Jay High School in Jay, Okla. On June 25, 1963, in Sedalia, Mo., he was united in marriage to Sherri D. Sharp, and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. After he and Sherri were married, they made their home in Maysville, Ark., until moving to Southwest City, Mo., in 1972. For 30 years, he owned and operated the Corner Rock Tobacco and Service Station in Southwest City, Mo. He retired in 2003, and he and Sherri moved to Miami, Okla. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo., a member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, York Rite and was a Shriner. He enjoyed photography, cars, golfing and was an avid gun collector. His father, Ace Lee Moreland II, preceded him in death. Ace is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sherri Moreland of the home; two sons, Ace L. Moreland IV and wife, Amie, of Bella Vista, Ark., and Christopher J. Moreland of Anderson, Mo.; a daughter, Cheri LaNay Gould and husband, Bob, of Bella Vista, Ark.; five grandchildren, Remington Gould, Zander Moreland, Liam Gould, Cade Moreland and Gavin Moreland; his mother, Lillian Walker of Miami, Okla.; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Moreland are at noon Friday, April 5, 2013, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes, with Bro. Bill Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in the Seneca Cemetery in Seneca, Mo. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Ace Moreland IV, Christopher Moreland, Bob Gould, Chad Sharp, Chase Sharp and Nelson Tanner.
