Tommy F. Walker, age 77, of Rogers passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Sept. 22, 2012, after a long, bravely-fought battle with multiple myeloma. He was born in Siloam Springs on Oct. 27, 1934, to Turner and Bertha (Paine) Walker. Tommy was an inspiration to those around him for his attitude during his illness. He never met a stranger and his outgoing personality brought him many friends. He was a food salesman for many years and later became a building contractor, overseeing the building of many homes in Rogers and Bentonville. He loved to travel and did so as long as his health allowed — seeing all 50 states and numerous other countries. He was a member of the Springdale Centennial Lions Club, serving as District Governor and attended the International gatherings in Hong Kong and Australia — and was in the Melvin Jones Fellowship. Tommy was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Bentonville where he was a greeter. He loved greeting people attending church — even despite his pain. Survivors include his wife, Anna of the home; sons, Jerry Walker of Siloam Springs, Randy Walker and wife, Marcia, of Columbia, Mo., Scott Walker of Bella Vista; daughters, Delores Osbourn and husband, Roger, of Siloam Springs, Lisa Walker of Rogers; his twin brother, Ralph Walker of Rogers; sister, Phyliss Nantkes of Bentonville; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 206 SE 28th St., in Bentonville. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Pastor Terry Simmons will officiate and burial will follow in Benton County Memorial Park. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, 72762; or to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1213, Rogers, 72757. Arrangements are under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers. Online condolences may be made at www.rollinsfuneral.com.
