Barbara F. Lockhart, 95, of Joplin, Mo., died at 11:50 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Spring River Christian Village. Barbara was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Crane, Mo., and had lived in Joplin the last 18 years, after moving from Prairie Grove, where she had lived for 30 years. Barbara was a school teacher with a career spanning over 30 years, beginning in a one room school east of Alba, moving to Kaskaskia Island, Ill., and finishing in Fayetteville. She also assisted her husband in ministry at six different churches in Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas. She attended church services at Spring River Christian Village. Barbara married Trew W. Lockhart, May 18, 1935, in Joplin. He preceded her in death July 31, 1996. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Eris Arlene Lockhart; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include three sons, Phil Lockhart and wife, Sara, of Joplin, Jack Lockhart and wife, Shirley, and Jami Lockhart and wife, Dot, all of Fayetteville; one brother, Kenneth Hilton of Salida, Colo.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Alba Christian Church. A reception will follow the service at the church. Memorial contributions are requested to Spring River Christian Village. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
