Margaret Ann Higdon

Margaret Ann Higdon, 94, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Innisfree Health & Rehab in Rogers. She was born June 27, 1918, in Sapulpa, Okla., to Marion Edgar Bates and Nell Verdon Fleharty Bates. She had been active for more than 50 years in the Order of Eastern Star (1st Worthy Matron of Peace Chapter OES #116, in Bowie, Md., and in Rogers), and volunteered extensively with Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and Central United Methodist Church in Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Samuel Lawson Higdon in 2010. She is survived by four nephews and two nieces, Barbara Nelson, Lee's Summit, Mo., Alan Higdon, Wichita, Kan., David Higdon, Lake Lotawana, Mo., Philip Higdon, Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth Higdon, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Marcia Hatfield, Kansas City, Mo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers, with the Rev. Jim Keith officiating.
