Clifton Jay Sharp, age 78, of Springdale died Sept. 10, 2012, in Rogers, Ark. Jay was the youngest son of Henry and Nellie Reed Sharp. He was born at home in the Spring Creek community on June 11, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one infant son. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Pat Holt Sharp; two daughters, Carol Brown (Glenn) of Springdale and Cheryl Simon (Clayton) of Lowell; two sons, Mark (Rod) of Dallas, Texas, and Matt (Bobbi) of Springdale. "Papa" was proud of his seven grandchildren, Tara Simon, Jeff Brown, Rachel Brown, Logan Sharp and Avery Sharp of Springdale, Lindsey Taylor (Grayson) of Rocky Comfort, Mo., and Shelby Simon of Lowell; three great-grandchildren, Ivy and Mortimer Durkin Brown of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Audrey Taylor of Rocky Comfort, Mo. Jay was a lifelong cattle and chicken farmer in Benton County. He loved to attend farm shows with his grandsons. He collected antique farm tractors and implements and toy tractors. "Sweet Pea" was a master prankster, had a dry sense of humor and loved to tease his family. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Spring Creek Cemetery in Springdale, with the Rev. Perry Grimsley officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Brown, Logan Sharp, Avery Sharp, Grayson Taylor, Nathan Pendergraft and Kent Woodard. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
