Pat Davis Brinson

Pat Davis Brinson, age 91, retired Lt. Colonel, USAF, died Sept. 3, 2012. He was born in Fayetteville, Ark., on Oct. 29, 1920, to Thomas Everett and Elizabeth Davis Brinson. Pat was a fifth-generation descendant of a prominent Baptist preacher, Thomas Moss Brinson, who moved to Northwest Arkansas in the 1840s. Pat graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA degree in 1947. As an honor graduate and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Scabbard & Blade he accepted a regular commission in the USAF. Pat's military career included five years in WWII, with three years being in New Guinea. He also served in Germany, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star for his performance on a mission near the Cambodian border. He retired after more than 30 years of service in 1972 at Tinker AFB, Okla., where he was chief of aircraft maintenance. He and his wife, Freddie, moved back to Fayetteville in 1979 after living in Gainesville, Ga., and San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and the Retired Officers Association. He had a great love of the game of golf, playing with his wife and friends. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife Freda "Freddie," of 65 years; his daughter, Jan Brinson Russell; a son, Gary Brinson and wife, Sandy, granddaughter, Erin Russell and Nathan Janes, all of Fayetteville; his brother, Paul Brinson of Gainesville, Ga. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marian Brinson Lisman. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, in the Wesley Chapel of Central United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Ark. Interment will be in Fayetteville National Cemetery with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers are Joe Rodman, Brent Tiller, Nathan Janes, Ted Villinski, Jeff Camp and Tim Nguyen. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Moore's Chapel Funeral Home, 206 W. Center St., Fayetteville, Ark.
