Kathleen Marie Coons, 71 of Springdale, Ark., formerly of Kansas City, Mo., and Osawatomie, Kan., went to be with the Lord, Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, in Fayetteville following a 4 ½ year battle with cancer. Kathleen was born Aug. 24, 1941 in Kansas City, Mo. She attended Blenheim Elementary School and graduated in 1959 from Southeast High School both in the Kansas City School District. While Kathleen was working as a secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture, she met Darryl Gene Coons. They married on Oct. 17, 1964. They owned Handyman Connection in Northwest Arkansas for several years before retiring. In addition to Darryl, survivors include a son, Douglas Gregory Coons of Princeton, Kan., a granddaughter, Ashley Marie Coons; a grandson, Dustin Coons; two great-grandchildren, Ejay and Dawson; her mother, Velda Molotsky of Springdale, Ark., her sister and brother-in-law, Celia and Vince O'Dwyer of Kansas City, Mo.; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Roy Seetin of Perry, Kan; four nieces; one nephew; three great- nephews; one great-niece; two aunts; and a host of cousins and friends Along with her family and church family, her greatest love was serving her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a tremendous Prayer Warrior seeing the Lord's intervention, guidance, direction and blessings in the lives of those people she loved. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Shiloh Community Church, 4262 Mount Comfort Road in Fayetteville, with Pastor Joe Jones officiating.
