Homer F. Walker, known to many as "Uncle Homer," died peacefully at his home on Oct. 23, 2012. He was born near Pea Ridge on Dec. 21, 1919, to Edgar A. and Lucy Ellen (Landers) Walker. Homer was a 1938 graduate of Pea Ridge High School, and served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After his tour of duty, he married the love of his life, Iva Griffin, on July 17, 1944. They were married 55 years at the time of her death in 2000. He was a member of the VFW in Pea Ridge and First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville. Uncle Homer is survived by his nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville, with interment to follow in Bentonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, 72762. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
