Sanford 'Merrill' Denning

Sanford "Merrill" Denning, 70, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the Concordia Care Center, Bella Vista, Ark. He was born on Sept. 24, 1942, in Oklahoma City to Wilber Merrill Denning and Opal Irene Shinnault. He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City and later attended drafting school and Central State University. He retired in 2005 from Nestle-Purina after 27 years of service as a design draftsman in engineering. Merrill enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf with his friends, and eating. He had a special place in his heart for kids and all animals – even Sara's cats. Merrill was a member of Highland Christian Church and the Bella Vista Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Sara of Bella Vista; son, Steve Winters (Charmian) of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Jerry Bierig of Enid, Okla., and brother-in-law, Keith Bierig (Donna) of Las Vegas, Nev. Also nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and many friends. Merrill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Noretha. His courage, compassion, determination and smile will always be remembered. A memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Highland Christian Church, Bella Vista, Ark., with Pastor Paul Seal officiating.
