Robert Emmett Kanatzar Sr.

Robert Emmett Kanatzar Sr., 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at his home in Bella Vista. He was born on Nov. 3, 1925, in Kansas City, Kan., to Emmett Kanatzar and Mary Heaney Kanatzar. He was raised and educated in Kansas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bob married Irene Grazda; she died in 1987. Bob was employed by and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Bob met and married Peggy Robinson on 8-8-88. They moved to Bella Vista in 1998. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus at St. Bernard Church. He loved his faith, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Irene; daughter, Anita Susan Kanatzar; son, John Nicholas Kanatzar; brothers, Harold and Jack; and sister, Sue McElligott. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Kanatzar of Bella Vista, Ark.; four sons, Robert E. Kanatzar Jr. (Martha) of Gladstone, Mo., Daniel L. Kanatzar (Joann) of Overland Park, Kan., Thomas J. Kanatzar of Kansas City, Kan., Phillip G. Kanatzar (Elizabeth) of Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Mimi Manning (Brian) of Kansas City, Kan., Lisa A. Jenicke (Steve) of Kansas City, Kan.; one brother, Gene Kanatzar (Myra) of Overland Park, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be said at 10 a.m. with Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Overland Park. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Circle of Life Hospice.
