Mary A. O'Keefe-O'Neill

Mary A. O'Keefe-O'Neill, 102, of Fayetteville, passed away June 23, 2012, at North Hills Life Care and Rehab. She was born May 23, 1910, in Worcester, Mass., to Dennis J. and Nora T. O'Connor-O'Keefe. She graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing with an RN degree in 1931. Her specialty was psychiatric care. She married James H. O'Neill in 1936. Mary credited her longevity to taking an aspirin and a glass of brandy daily. She was an avid baseball fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, James O'Neill; parents; four brothers, Francis O'Keefe, Thomas O'Keefe, John O'Keefe and George O'Keefe. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Babione of West Fork; two grandchildren, Robert J. Babione of West Fork and Mark W. Babione and wife, Jennifer of Cave Springs; five great-grandchildren, Shana Vargas and husband, Daniel, Robert W. Babione, Matthew Babione, Haydn Babione and Greer Babione. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Hills Life Care and Rehab Special Activities Fund, 27 E. Appleby Road, Fayetteville 72703.
