George Robert Cole, M.D., 76, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, in Fayetteville. He was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Fayetteville to George R. Cole Sr. and Mildred "Mim" (Axley) Cole. Dr. Cole was retired after a long career as an OB/GYN in Fayetteville. He was one of the co-founders of Parkhill Clinic and served as both chief of staff and chief of OB/GYN service at Washington Regional Medical Center. He also served on the board of the Razorback Foundation Inc., the national board of Ducks Unlimited, as well as a commissioner for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Cole; one daughter, Jordan Henry of Little Rock, Ark.; three sons, Brad Cole and wife, Marcie, of Conway, Ark., Jeff Cole and wife, Carolyn, of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Andrew Cole and wife, Beverly, of Conway, Ark.; one stepson, Rob Whitfield of Fayetteville, Ark.; and six grandchildren, Chelsea Cole, Elizabeth Cole, Jackson Cole, Kegan Cole, Austin Cole and Madison Cole. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, with a reception following the service for family and friends. Private burial will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
