Jackie Thomas Carter

Jackie Thomas Carter, 78, of Huntsville, Ark., died July 16, 2012, at his home. He was born April 25, 1934, at Muskegon, Mich., the son of Clifford O. and Dorothy Brillhart Carter. He was a retired electrical engineer for Siemens Energy and Automation, where he was involved with projects including the Sears Tower and the Riyadh Airport in Saudi Arabia. He was a Protestant and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was a foremost authority on bugles in the United States and had an extensive bugle collection. He was an advisory member of the Board of Directors of the Streitwieser Foundation Trumpet Museum in Austria and an avid reader of war histories. He was preceded in death by three sons, William Carter, Daniel Carter and Timothy Carter. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Eaton Carter of the home; one son, Craig Hysell of Tacoma, Wash., and one daughter, Dr. Mary Carter of New York City, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Reverends David Gilmer and Dennis Brannan officiating. Interment will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville, Ark. Pallbearers will be his nephews.
