Gordon T. Bryant, age 96, of Warren, Ark. died July 15, 2012. He was born December 1, 1915 in New Edinburg, Ark. to James and Bertha Haygood Bryant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Grice Bryant, a son, Raymond Bryant and brother Herman Bryant. Gordon is survived by two sons, Garland Ray Bryant and his wife, Bobye Ann; Morris Dean Bryant and wife, Debbie, of Warren; two daughters, Shirley Smalling and husband, Dennis, of Rogers, Ark.; Barbara Johnson and husband, James, of Hermitage, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Joen Bryant, of Warren; 10 grandchildren, Scotty Reed, Michelle Masica, April Reigner, Paige Hui, Leslie Reep, Darren Bryant, Brad Smalling, Misty Reynolds, Brandy Harrod, and Holly Cathey; 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was a WWII veteran, member Hopewell Baptist Church and member of the Huey Masonic Lodge #78 of New Edinburg. After his marriage to Gertrude in 1934, he began cutting logs for the Southern Lumber Company. In 1941he went to work for the W&OV Railroad firing the locomotive boiler. In 1946 he began working for the Southern Lumber Company and later Potlatch. For the next 35 years he held many positions including Power House engineer, Foreman of Machine Shop, Power House, and Fire Protection. In 1973 he became the Superintendent of Maintenance, Machine Shop, and Power House for both the Southern and Bradley Plants. He retired on January 1, 1981. After retirement, he and his wife, Gertrude, spent many happy years camping and fishing together before her death in 2002. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Frazer's Funeral Home in Warren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 18, at 10 a.m. at Frazers Chapel.
