Darwin 'Shorty' Wallace Bolstad

Darwin "Shorty" Wallace Bolstad, 65, of Fayetteville, went to meet his Heavenly Father on July 14, 2012. He was the last survivor of his four siblings. He was born Aug. 3, 1946, in Fergus Falls, Minn., to Walter and Lillian Bolstad. Darwin retired from Hiland Dairy after 22 years of service and then was owner and operator of Shorty's Mobile Wash where he developed several clients in the Northwest Arkansas area. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Wedington Fire Department for several years. He enjoyed his grandchildren, motorcycle rides with his family and many friends through the Ozarks, sand-railing, boating and camping with family. He also enjoyed CB radios, where his handle was Jackknife. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Virgil, Laverne and Lester Bolstad; sister, Leona Harworth; and his grandparents, who were immigrants from Norway. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ivy Bolstad, of the home; daughter, Pam Bolstad Asher of Farmington; son, Tim Bolstad of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, Amberly and Whitney Asher of Farmington, Nick Bolstad of Tulsa and Justin Bolstad of Fayetteville; and his extended family from his hometown of Fergus Falls, Minn., as well as Northwest Arkansas, include many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 17, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Beards Funeral Chapel, 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, with Chaplain Phil Misenheimer officiating.
