Louise Parker Brazzeal

Louise Parker Brazzeal, 93, member of one of North Arkansas’ earliest pioneer families, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at the Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, Ark. Louise was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Gaither, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Coy Brazzeal; and granddaughters, Donna Jean Brazzeal and Karen Yeager Windsor. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alice Curnutt Parker; sisters, Elva Trotter and Edith Morris; brothers, Alvin, Bill, Lester, Virgil, Sherman and Ross Parker. Survivors include sons, Gary and wife, Linda Brazzeal, of Harrison, and Don Brazzeal of Branson; daughter, Shirley and husband, Ed Yeager, of Van Buren; grandchildren include Jeff Brazzeal and wife, Jeannine, of Bentonville, Mike Brazzeal and wife, Cindy, of Rogers, Deborah Clark and husband, Scott, of Fort Smith, and husband of Karen, Aaron Windsor of Fort Smith; and eight great-grandchildren. Louise was a 1935 graduate of Harrison High School. Louise and her husband, Coy, operated Parkway Travel Park near Dogpatch, a distributorship for Standard Oil and Exxon station at the junction of Highway 7 South and 43 in Harrison before retiring in 1984. Born and raised on the Parker farm near Gaither, the family having settled there after leaving the Buffalo River area where the Parker-Hickman cabin, a part of the Buffalo National River still stands as a testament to the Parker family and their heritage. Louise’s love of her family and the moments they shared will be a legacy passed on for generations to come. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison, with private family burial later with Dr. James Bryant speaking. Pallbearers will be family with honorary pallbearers Dr. John Leslie and staff of Hospice of the Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Hills, 501 E.
