Douglas G. Wertens

Douglas G. Wertens of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at the age of 71. He was born Jan. 26, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., to parents William Wertens and Viola (Blyth) Wertens. Douglas was an accomplished botanist and enjoyed growing orchids and many varieties of roses. He also was a model train enthusiast. He is preceded in death by his parents. Douglas is survived by three children, daughter Susan Wertens, of Arizona; son, Kevin Wertens of Rhode Island; and daughter, Leilani Wertens of Chicago, Ill.; former wife, Connie Wertens; two brothers, Bill Wertens of Rogers, Ark., Ron Wertens of Bakersfield, Calif.; and a sister, Mary Brent of Colorado Springs, Colo.; as well as three grandchildren.
