Jean A. Smith

Jean A. Smith, 87, passed from this life to be with the Lord Jesus Christ Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at the Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista, Ark. Jean was born in Muskogee, Okla., on Nov. 22, 1924, to C.A. and Carrie Ambrister. Jean and Jerry were married on April 20, 1944, and they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Jean surrendered her heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1949, and she and her husband raised their family in Tulsa, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and a granddaughter, Cassie Smith. Jean was a loving and faithful wife to her husband and a wonderful mother to her children. She was a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jerry C. Smith; five children; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her children are Mrs. Leslie Neel of Smithfield, Va., Mrs. Janet Eaton of Ruiodoso, N.M., Mr. Jerry A Smith of Columbus, Ohio; the Rev. Daniel W. Smith of Eugene, Ore., and Dr. Roger C. Smith of St. Augustine, Fla. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at the Bella Vista Baptist Church. There will be no graveside service.
