Lester Edward Hook

Lester Edward Hook, age 99, of Springdale, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at his home. He was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Turon, Kan., the son of John Arthur Hook and Alma Grace Scriven Hook. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years, Amanda Jewell Taylor Hook; his brothers, Russell Hook, Cyrus Hook and Arthur Hook. Lester worked for George's Inc. for over 50 years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and horseback riding. He was a past member of the Springdale Riding Club and a Methodist. He is survived by one son, Lester Hook Jr., of the home; three daughters, Betty Hook of the home, Geraldine McGehee of Fayetteville and Pauline Franklin of Harrison; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale, with the Rev. Audie Long officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Springs Cemetery.
