Lynn Shelby Chinn

Lynn Shelby Chinn, born Sept. 21, 1922, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, attended by his family at the Kansas City Hospice House. Lynn and Mildred Proctor were married on Aug. 18, 1943. Lynn was a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator stationed in Italy. The crew flew high level bombing raids over the Ploesti oil fields in Romania. He and his crew were shot down and became Romanian prisoners of war on May 31, 1944. Lynn owned and operated Adjustment Service Company, an independent insurance adjusting company in Kansas City. Lynn and Midge resided in Prairie Village, Kan., where they raised three children. They were active members of Country Club Christian Church. In 1986, they retired to Bella Vista, Ark., and loved life. They continued their active involvement in the First Christian Church of Bentonville, where Lynn served as an elder and chairman of the board. Midge died in 2005 after 62 years of marriage. In 2006, Lynn married longtime friend, Catherine Cappello. They enjoyed five loving years together in Bella Vista before returning to the Kansas City area in 2011. Lynn is survived by his wife, Catherine; four children, Stephen P. Chinn (Marti), Lynda Delap, Carolyn Chinn Lewis (Jim) and Michael E. Curley. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was loved and respected by all. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the First Christian Church of Bentonville, Bentonville, Ark. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church of Bentonville, Ark.
