Jack D. Whitney

Jack D. Whitney was born on April 1, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Egbert and Blanche (Gardiner) Whitney. He ascended to Heaven on Friday, April 13, 2012, at the age of 81. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Joan; four daughters, Jeanine L. Henthorn, Jan M. Cochran, Jocelyn A. Whitney, and Jeri L. Mann; two stepdaughters, Kimberly D. Burdick and Beth J. Johnson; two sons, Chris and Mark Whitney; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Justin W. Whitney; and his beloved cocker spaniel, Mooch. Jack served in the Navy and retired from American Airlines in 1991 after 41 years of service. Jack and Joan then moved to their home on Beaver Lake in Rogers, Ark. After moving to Rogers, Jack was instrumental in the building of Central United Methodist Church. They lived there for nearly 20 years before returning to Tulsa in 2009. His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at First United Methodist Church, Tulsa, Okla.
