Cleona A. Matter

Cleona A. (Monahan) Matter died April 2 in LaGrange, Ind. She was born March 30, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wis. She was married to Herbert L. Matter who preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Jill (Joel) Cohen; two sons, Daniel (Theresa) Matter and James Matter; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mona Lindgren and Rosalie Hoeft; two brothers, Leo (Rosemary) Monahan and Robert (Kathy) Monahan. Cleo had been a nurse in Milwaukee for 40 years before retiring with her husband to Springdale in 1993. She was a member of Civil War Round Table, Senior Democrats, Society of Democrat Women, National Railway Historical Society, Red Hat Society and Runabouts Bereavement group. She enjoyed attending theater and symphony, Lady Razorback games, Razorback Football and had taken trips to New Zealand, Ireland, Washington, D.C., and an Alaskan Cruise. She was independent, fun-loving, giving, generous, joyful, curious, inquisitive and much loved by her family and friends. She had recently moved to Indiana to be with her daughter. Memorials may be given to Love Bears Ministry at Good Shepard Church, Fayetteville, Ark., or Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale, Ark., where she volunteered.
