Leonard Melvin Weeter, 73, of Rogers, Ark., died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Circle of Life Legacy Village, in Bentonville. He was born Oct. 27, 1938, in Decatur County, Iowa, to Orville C. Weeter and Frances E. Comer Weeter. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he joined the Pipefitter Union #250 in California and in October of 2010 received his 50-year membership award. He received joy from helping others, cooking, building and making people smile. Leonard enjoyed being around friends and family, and with his positive outlook on life, would always make you happy just being around him. He loved to be busy and couldn't get enough of spending time with family and friends; he loved seeing new things and doing just about anything. He did not know a stranger; he connected to everyone he talked to and made friends easily. He loved his family and loved spending time with them all, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Leonard was adored by all and will always hold a special place in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Weeter; and one grandson, Trenton Weeter. Leonard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Johna Kay Wyckoff Weeter; one son, John Weeter, of Missouri; one daughter, Teri Lynn Cabell, wife of Bryan Cabell, of Rogers; four brothers, Duane Weeter and wife Sarah of Jackson, Ga., Marvin Weeter, and wife Nancy of Scottsdale, Ariz., Fred Weeter and wife Cindy of Jackson, Ga., Darrell Weeter and wife Linda of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Darlene Weeter of Lincoln, Neb.; one sister-in-law, Delores Weeter of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Natalee Wanasek, Alec Wanasek, Patrick Cabell, Ben Cabell, Chris Cabell, Tristan Weeter, Briann Weeter, Jade Johnson, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2012, at Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sandra Wanasek officiating. Burial will be in Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery.
