Thomas Waymon Taylor

Thomas Waymon Taylor, 68 of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011, at home. Born February 15, 1942, in Pine Bluff, he was the son of the late Oscar Ray Taylor, Sr. and Mary Lou Kelley Taylor. He was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Watson Chapel High School in 1961. He also attended Ouachita Baptist University for a year, before joining the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam Era and received an Honorable Discharge in 1964. After returning from the Navy, Mr. Taylor began working for the Cotton Belt Railroad, now the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a yardman for over 28 years, retiring in 1992. During his retirement, he moved to Bentonville, Arkansas and then to Mount Ida, Arkansas, recently returning to Pine Bluff. He was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two children, Ken Taylor, of Rogers, Arkansas and Mary Pearcy, of Bentonville; two grandchildren, Randall Pearcy and Kathryn Pearcy, both of Bentonville; the mother of his children, Faye Taylor, of Bentonville; three brothers, John R. Taylor, James W. Taylor, and Oscar Taylor Jr., all of Pine Bluff; and one sister, Ruby Hathcoat of Pine Bluff; and a host of friends and church family. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2011, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend David Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
