Fort Smith police arrest local man in connection with Friday night shooting that left another man injured

FORT SMITH -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident that occurred Friday night.

Riley Tobler, 22, of 3319 Fresno St. in Fort Smith was arrested early Saturday in connection with first-degree battery in the shooting.

Police responded to a shooting call around 11:15 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of North I Street, according to press release from Aric Mitchell, Fort Smith Police Department spokesman. Officers found a man who had been shot, and he was taken to a local hospital. The release described the man's injuries as serious, but there have been no other updates about the victim's condition.

An earlier release from Mitchell said the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident.

Tobler is being held without bond in the Sebastian County Detention Center. He is scheduled to be in court Thursday.
