BENTONVILLE -- A Thursday night fire significantly damaged a house being remodeled at 204 S.W. F St.

The fire was reported at 11:17 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Jeremy Metcalf with the Bentonville Fire Department.

"It was a single-family residence that was under construction or being remodeled," Metcalf said Friday morning. "The house was unlivable in the condition it was in so there was no one there. It was an older house, probably built in the 1950s."

Metcalf said there were no injuries reported in connection with the fire. He said the Fire Department sent three fire engines, a ladder truck, a rescue truck and one battalion chief's vehicle. An ambulance was also sent to the scene.

Metcalf said a total of 17 firefighters were on the scene for about two hours from the time of the call to the time the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, Metcalf said Friday morning, but it did not appear to be suspicious.
