FAYETTEVILLE -- A body was found near a bridge at Lake Fayetteville on Tuesday morning by a passerby, according to Fayetteville police.
Sgt. Stephen Mauk, public information officer, said the case is being investigated as an unattended death, but evidence indicates it may have been a suicide.
Mauk said the body was reported to police at about 8:56 a.m. Tuesday. The body was located under a bridge by the lake's spillway, he said.
Police are not releasing the person's name at this time because relatives have not been notified, he said.
