One man dead in single-car wreck on Interstate 49 in Washington County

WEST FORK -- A Mountainburg man died Wednesday in a car crash on Interstate 49, according to a report from Arkansas State Police.

A 2017 Chevrolet Silverado was northbound on I-49 near mile marker 54 in Washington County when it hydroplaned after hitting a pool of water, left the roadway and collided with a concrete bridge pillar, according to the report.

The accident occurred at 4:49 p.m. Wednesday. It was raining at the time.

Roger Curtis Friddle, 47, was a passenger in the vehicle. He died as a result of an injury sustained in the crash, the report states.

The driver, Jason Ray Friddle, 41, of Chester, was injured and transported to Washington Regional Medical Center.
