Huntsville 12, Berryville 2
Jude Box had a double and a triple and drove in three runs as Huntsville defeated Berryville in the opening round of the 4A-1 Conference tournament.
Box belted an RBI triple and scored on Sawyer Owens' single as part of a four-run first for the Eagles (17-8), who added a run in the second before a six-run outburst in the fourth. Box had a two-run double in the fourth.
Mason Davidson, Amos Mayes and Owens each had two hits and drove in a run for Huntsville, which is the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will travel to fourth seed Prairie Grove this afternoon.
SOFTBALL
Bentonville 13, Rogers Heritage 0
Ryann Sanders pitched a perfect game and the Lady Tigers remained perfect in the 6A-West on Monday.
Sanders, a Louisville verbal commit, needed just 50 pitches to record the five-inning gem. The right-hander struck out eight to run her record to 21-1 on the season.
Bentonville (23-1, 11-0 6A-West) provided Sanders with plenty of offensive support, belting four extra-base hits. Kadence Stafford was 2-for-3 with a triple, home run and three RBIs for the Lady Tigers. Trista Peterson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Kasey Wood and Amber Turner also belted triples.
Rogers 10, Springdale Har-Ber 1
The Lady Mounties moved back into the No. 2 seed in the 6A-West with a big road win Monday as Ava Johnson allowed just two hits and struck out 18 Har-Ber batters for the complete-game masterpiece.
Lauryn Heinle and Dahana Tuomala led a potent Rogers attack, each going 3-for-4 at the dish. Heinle bashed two doubles and drove in two runs, and Tuomala homered and drove in three runs as part of the Lady Mounties' 15-hit attack. Mak Fithian was 2-for-4 and Johnson helped her own cause with an RBI double.
Anniston Reith drove in Har-Ber's only run.
Greenwood 15-15, Alma 0-0
The Lady Bulldogs rode dominant pitching to a 5A-West Conference sweep Monday.
In the opener, Tori Howard pitched a no-hitter in the three-inning run rule with five strikeouts.
Daisy Parker and Haley McAdams each drove in three runs for Greenwood (18-8). Ireland Cooper was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
In the second game, McAdams allowed two hits and struck out six. Charlize Taylor was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and McAdams added a double and three RBIs. Brilea Rofkhar also had two RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs.
