Bella Vista Bypass work calls for closings

Rock blasting associated with work on a new Interstate 49/U.S. 71/Arkansas 549 interchange in Bentonville as part of the Bella Vista Bypass will require lane closings for five days starting today, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation.

Crews will alternately close the inside and outside lanes of southbound I-49 just south of the Bella Vista Bypass interchange during overnight hours over the same five days.

The rock blasting will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily through Friday, weather permitting, and will require crews to block traffic for up to 15 minutes in the area of the interchange on I-49, U.S. 71, Arkansas 549 and Walton Boulevard.

The I-49 lane closings will take place between 8 a.m. and 7 a.m., also weather permitting.

The $66.6 million project includes constructing approximately 2.8 miles of roadway with bridge structures on Arkansas 549 as well as the interchange.
