Bella Vista Bypass set for lane closing

Work to build the $66.6 million Bella Vista Bypass interchange with U.S. 71 in Bentonville will require overnight lane closings for a week beginning Sunday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Crews will require closing the westbound lane on the bypass, also called Arkansas 549, from east of Punkin Hollow Road to McKissic Creek Road daily through March 1, weather permitting, to set a concrete barrier wall along the route.

The westbound lane initially will be closed from 6 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday.

Beginning Monday, the lane will be closed from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily through Feb. 29. It also will be closed from 8 p.m. Feb. 29 to 10 a.m. March 1.

Traffic will be controlled by signs, flagging operations and police enforcement, the department said.

The work is part of a project to build about 2.8 miles of roadway with bridge structures on U.S. 549, including the new interchange with U.S. 71 in Bentonville.
