I-440 lane closed to replace device

Work to replace a device designed to reduce damage in crashes on a section of Interstate 440 in Little Rock will require a lane closing Thursday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Crews will close the westbound inside lane of I-440 at the south terminal interchange, which includes Interstates 30 and 530, from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m., weather permitting, to replace the device, called a crash attenuator. Placed at the end of guardrails or other fixed structures, attenuators are designed to absorb colliding vehicles' kinetic energy.

Traffic will be controlled by traffic barrels and signs.
