Inaugural lap set at new Scott Field

Little Rock School District Superintendent Mike Poore will lead interested members of the public in a ceremonial lap when the walking track at Scott Field officially opens to the public at 1:30 p.m. today.

Scott Field, on the campus of Forest Heights STEM Academy at 5901 Evergreen St., also serves as the home turf for Hall High School.

The field, stands, track and concession areas were remodeled and expanded this summer, causing the field to be temporarily closed to the community.

In addition to celebrating football with Hall High Warrior and Forest Heights STEM Academy Eagle fans at the new and enhanced facilities, the Little Rock School District will now be able to host sanctioned track meets.

Completion of the track renovations also allows the return of community members who frequently used the area to exercise. District officials are asking the public's cooperation in maintaining the condition of the track and field by observing rules posted near the facility.
