ROGERS -- State Rep. Jana Della Rosa's three-vote lead held in today's recount in the GOP primary for House District 90, the Benton County Election Commission announced.

First-time candidate Kendon Underwood of Cave Springs came within three votes of Della Rosa in Tuesday night's Republican primary results. The commission held one recount Thursday because the margin was so close, it said after Tuesday's primary. That result added an uncounted absentee vote and ended with Della Rosa four votes ahead out of 2,134 cast.

Underwood asked for a second recount at his expense, saying he appreciated the commission's efforts but owed it to his supporters to make absolutely sure. The commission held the recount at its Bentonville offices Tuesday afternoon. It also added a provisional ballot which gave Underwood another vote. The commission announced the second recount's result shortly before 2 p.m. today.

Final though unofficial results on Tuesday showed Della Rosa of Rogers with 1,069 votes to Underwood's 1,066.

Della Rosa faces Kati McFarland, the Democratic nominee, in the Nov. 6 general election. Della Rosa is running for her third, two-year term.
