2 firemen arrested in child-sex cases

Two firefighters in Northwest Arkansas face charges of sexual indecency with a child in separate cases, authorities said.

Craig Harvey, 38, was taken into custody by the Goshen Police Department and booked into the Washington County jail about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, records show.

Harvey worked for the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department, police said. He was also a captain and paramedic for Central EMS, an ambulance and paramedic service in Washington County. Central EMS Chief Becky Stewart said he resigned Thursday.

Goshen police began investigating Harvey last week after a complaint from the parents of an 11-year-old, the department said.

In the other case, 20-year-old William Simpson was arrested on charges of sexual indecency with a child and rape, the Crawford County sheriff's office said. He was taken into custody March 21.

Simpson, a firefighter in Cedarville, is accused of having sexual relations with two youths, aged 14 to 17, according to the agency.

Both men were freed from jail after posting bond.
