Two arrested in connection with Rogers armed robbery

BENTONVILLE -- Police arrested two people Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery outside a Rogers grocery store.

Donald Yost, 41, of Wentworth, Mo., and Nicole Shannon, 29, of Joplin, Mo., were arrested in connection with aggravated robbery, theft of property, possession of a firearm by certain person, fleeing and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. The pair are being held without bond in the Benton County Jail.

Rogers police officers went Wednesday to 10 Box grocery store at 103 N. Dixieland Road following the report of an aggravated robbery, according to a news release from the department.

A woman reported a man armed with a handgun approached her while she was in her car and forced her to get out, according to release. The man took the woman's Dodge Journey and headed north out of the parking lot on Dixieland Road.

Police officers spotted the car and pursued it. The car hit another vehicle at the intersection of Dixieland Road and Olive Street, according to the release.

The pursuit continued south on Dixieland and then east on New Hope Road, ending in the area of Blue Hill Road,.

Yost was the driver, and Shannon was a passenger in the vehicle, according to the press release.

Police interviewed Yost and Shannon, who said they had been walking in Benton County and an elderly couple gave them a ride to Rogers, according to the release. Police want to talk with the couple that gave the pair a ride and are requesting they contact the department.

Yost and Shannon are scheduled for arraignments at 8 a.m. April 9 in Circuit Judge Brad Karren's courtroom.
